Nolin Lake is a popular swimming hole for many tourists, but if you’ve brought your own boat (from pontoon to kayak) you’ll be able to cruise across the glassy surface of the water at top speeds. While you can bring your own boat to the marina, it may be simpler to rent from the docks surrounding the lake.
Ponderosa Boat Dock on Nolin Lake

The Ponderosa Boat Dock has both motorboats and pontoon boats. It’s one of the few places on Nolin Lake where you can rent boats, so if you didn’t bring your own, you’ll have to come here.
While being an hour long drive from our location, their high quality boat rentals can be a great way to experience Nolin Lake.

Nolin Lake State Park Trails
While Nolin Lake won’t offer any sort of difficult hiking, there are a few nature trails that appeal to everyone.
Brier Creek Omega Trail Loop
Distance: 3.4 miles
Difficulty: Easy
The
Brier Creek Omega Trail Loop is known for taking travelers by a small yet pretty waterfall. The trail isn’t the most well-marked, so keep your map handy, but if you walk the entire loop you’re in for some beautiful forest views, excellent bird watching opportunities and a peek at the lake from higher up.
Nolin Lake Trail
Distance: 7.1 miles
Difficulty: Easy
A perfect trail for a hot summer day,
Nolin Lake Trail appeals to everyone. It’s not really a hike—more of a walk—-and can be completed fairly quickly. You’ll see beautiful rock formations uncommon to Kentucky. Make sure to wear jeans, high socks, and long sleeves to avoid getting ticks on you.
